PUBLIC INTERNATIONAL LAW

PUBLIC INTERNATIONAL LAW

We act for States, international organisations and private entities in contentious and non-contentious matters. Our work touches every region of the world. For more than two decades, our partners have been recognised as leaders in their field. Our award-winning team is ranked in the top tier by all global legal directories.

We help our clients succeed by participating with them in a collaborative effort. Davis& Partners brings together the best minds and most experienced professionals working in the field of public international law today.

Investment Treaty Arbitration

We are particularly experienced in advising clients on resolving disputes related to overseas investments. We represent investors and governments alike in investment treaty arbitrations. These disputes often arise when a government or governmental agency allegedly interferes with the property rights of a foreign investor. They are often resolved under the arbitration provisions of an investment treaty. We have advised and represented clients around the world in relation to bilateral investment treaties (BITs), NAFTA, the Energy Charter Treaty, the ASEAN Investment Protocol and ICSID.

International Commercial Arbitration

Davis& Partners has one of the largest dedicated arbitration groups in Cameroon. Our commercial arbitration practice spans the globe and includes all the major arbitration centres and rules. Much of our arbitration work involves energy, mining, telecommunications, defence procurement and shareholder and joint venture disputes, often where a government or State-owned company is a party.

Business And Human Rights

We are leading lawyers in the area of international business and human rights. Companies consult us about their operations and supply chains in countries that have experienced human rights and rule of law problems. Funds and financial institutions seek our advice about their investments in such companies. Governments consult us about their legislation and international obligations in relation to business and human rights.

We provide advice on international business and human rights related legal standards, potential liabilities, issues arising from the implementation of voluntary standards (including the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises), due diligence, grievance mechanisms, policy design, compliance mechanisms, contract governance, reporting and assurance, risk management and dispute resolution.

Given the sensitive nature of the work, we are unable to identify most of our lawyers' mandates, even indirectly, in the field of business and human rights.
